In a world where boutique gyms and personal training seem to be the norm, it’s important to find your “fitness niche.” You know, what gets you going, what pumps you up, what makes you feel like you totally earned that glass of wine at happy hour…

For me, it’s group fitness. Even as someone who has 15+ years of experience working out in a gym and even taught small group training classes, I still don’t feel entirely comfortable putting together my own routine and working out by myself on the floor. For one, it’s boring. Like, look-at-the-clock-every-five-seconds-because-I-can’t-wait-to-be-finished boring. It’s just you, your headphones and the exercise — which, to me, doesn’t sound fun. It might work for some (okay, a lot) of people, but not me. I want that heart-pumping loud music that has everyone in the zone, friends to keep me accountable and push me through that last rep, and an instructor who knows what he or she is talking about and guides me through a challenging routine and doesn’t let me give up. That’s exactly what I get from the group fitness classes at Purlife Fitness Center. Whether it’s focused on lower body and core, cardio, or full body, I leave there with a smile on my face knowing that I accomplished something I may not have done if I had to do it alone.

Purlife Fitness Center offers a variety of group classes at both locations in Delray Beach and Boca Raton. You’ll be introduced to all kinds of equipment, including, but not limited to, TRX, Bosu balls, Powerblocks, Kettlebells, dumbbells and barbells. The state-of-the-art Queenax is literally like a playground in the middle of the gym.

With it, comes the ability to perform exercises you may not have ever heard of or seen before. This makes each class more exciting than the last as there is always something new to learn, especially if you switch it up between the different instructors who all have their own unique styles and format for their classes.

There is something so motivating about joining in on a group fitness class. You’re surrounded by like minded people who share the same goal and you are there to help each other reach them. Most of the time, you end up taking class with the same people day after day. Your “gym friends” can quickly become your lifelong friends, which has been the case for me. The instructors also become your friends — but more than that, you are trusting them with your health and wellbeing. You’re literally putting your life in their hands and hoping they will guide you in the direction of your fitness goals, and help you each step along the way to achieve them. The friends I’ve made at Purlife — both members and trainers/instructors — have never steered me wrong.

The benefits of group fitness classes are kind of a no-brainer.

  1. Sharing a fun, exciting atmosphere with like minded individuals.
  2. Friends who become like family, who keep you motivated and accountable.
  3. Trustworthy instructors who challenge you to new limits and help you reach your goals.

If I haven’t already convinced you enough, come check out Purlife Fitness Center for yourself. Classes are available every day of the week, starting as early as 5:45am and as late as 6:30pm.
